ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for enrolment in our firearms course, the following must be met for you to apply for a license through the QLD police department.
The following information is from the Weapons Act 1990
-
1) In deciding or considering, for the issue, renewal, suspension or revocation of a license, whether a person is, or is no longer, a fit and proper person to hold a license, an authorized officer must consider, among other things:
A) The mental and physical fitness of the person; and
B) Whether a domestic violence order has been made against the person; and
C) Whether the person has stated anything in or in connection with an application for a license, or an application for the renewal of a license, the person knows is false or misleading in a material particular; and
D) Whether there is any criminal intelligence or other information to which the authorize officer has access that indicates:
1) The person is a risk to public safety; or
2) That authorizing the person to possess a weapon would be contrary to the public interest; and
3) The public interest.
However, for the issue, renewal or revocation of a license, a person is not a fit and proper person to hold a license if, in QLD or elsewhere within the relevant period:
-
A) the person has been convicted of, or discharged from custody on sentence after the person has been convicted of, any of the following offences:
1) An offence relating to the misuse of drugs.
2) An offence involving the use or threatened use of violence.
3) An offence involving the use, carriage, discharge or possession of a weapon; or
B) A domestic violence order, other than a temporary protection order, has been made against the person.

People working within the Government who require a Weapons Licence for work purposes are welcome.
Recognised prior learning skills with evidence is required. Regular courses are conducted each week. Good prices offered.
